The Beijing Summit of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, which just concluded, has achieved fruitful results.

On September 4, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Kenyan President Kenyatta at the Great Hall of the People. Xi Jinping said that China-Kenya comprehensive strategic partnership has developed rapidly and cooperation in various fields has been at the forefront of China-Africa cooperation. The Chinese side welcomes Kenya's participation in the “Belt and Road” cooperation and congratulates the Kenyan side on its successful participation in the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. It is willing to support the Kenyan side to build economic belts and industrial parks along the railway. Kenyatta said that the summit planned the next step of the development of the forum and will promote non-Chinese prosperity. Kenya is willing to deepen its comprehensive strategic partnership with China, actively participate in the construction of the “Belt and Road” and promote interconnection.

Recently, the China National Textile and Apparel Council has brought many representatives of Chinese textile companies to Kenya for cooperation and exchanges. On the evening of September 6, local time, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperation of Kenya held talks with the Chinese textile delegation in Nairobi.

Sun Ruizhe, President of the China National Textile and Apparel Council, Wang Dong, Inspector of the Industry Coordination Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, Yang Jichao, Xu Yingxin, Chen Dapeng, Yang Zhaohua, Vice Presidents of China Textile Association, and representatives of outstanding entrepreneurs from the Chinese textile industry, The meeting was attended by Kenyan representatives such as Jaswinder Beidi, Chairman of the International Textile Federation, and Betty Maina, First Secretary of the Kenyan Ministry of Trade and Cooperation.

Betty Maina said that through the efforts of the past 10 years, Kenya has now become the largest economy in East Africa, with GDP of $75 billion in 2017, an increase of 5% over the previous year.

"China and Kenya established diplomatic relations in 1963. China and Kenya have maintained friendly relations and have further strengthened in recent years. At the just-concluded China-Africa Cooperation Forum, Kenyan President Kenyatta attended the meeting. This is his third trip to China." Betty Maina also specifically mentioned that China has provided great support and assistance to Kenya in terms of financial assistance and infrastructure construction, and has further strengthened the economic exchanges between the two countries.

However, the trade between China and Kenya has always been uneven. She hopes that Chinese companies can invest in Kenya and promote a more balanced trade between the two countries.

For Kenya's investment advantage, Betty Maina
